By the time I got there the truck was pretty much dead. So I put the new alternator on and jump start it and in the instrument cluster it says "TBC Fault".

If you are hooked up to a trailer it could mean you are losing your connection or ground to the trailer. Check the wiring and the 7 pin in the rear. You can use a test light to check for power to 7 pin the 2 bottom terms are ground and brake. put a test light to them and hold the brake down and see if it works.
